Countering Viloent Extremism 2013 21st to 22nd November 2013 Perth, Australia CVE 2013 is Australia's first national and international dialogue on countering violent extremism. The Symposium is a two day event in Perth Western Australia. It is presented by Curtin University, PaVE, Hedayah, and Macquarie University (PICT). Violent extremism is a complex and multi-faceted phenomenon. While there have been many advances made towards understanding violent extremism and how best to counter it, CVE is still in its developmental stages as academics, governments and communities attempt to understand why violent extremism occurs, the conditions under which it occurs and the most effective ways of constructively addressing and preventing it. Who should attend? CVE 2013 will bring together national and international scholars, practitioners, policy makers and former extremists for two days to workshop, discuss and debate the current state and future directions for CVE.
