2016 International Conference on Sport and Society - A Common Ground Conference

University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu, USA

The Sixth International Conference on Sport and Society will be held at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu, USA, 2-3 June 2016. We invite proposals for paper presentations, workshops, posters, colloquia, or virtual sessions addressing one of the following themes:

Theme 1: Sporting Cultures and Identities
Theme 2: Sport and Health
Theme 3: Sports Education
Theme 4: Sports Management and Commercialization

2016 SPECIAL THEME: "Leisure, Play, Action: Ecological Awareness in Sports"


We welcome the submission of proposals to the conference at any time of the year before the final Late Proposal Deadline (see below). All proposals will be reviewed within two to four weeks of submission. The dates below serve as a guideline for proposal submission based on our corresponding registration deadlines.

Regular Proposal Deadline – *2 March 2016*
Late Proposal Deadline – 2 May 2016


The Sport & Society Collection aims to be a definitive resource supporting an interdisciplinary conversation on the relationships between sports and societies. The Sport & Society Collection is double-blind peer reviewed, encourages the widest range of submissions, and aims to foster the highest standards in intellectual excellence. Articles may be submitted by in-person and virtual participants, as well as Knowledge Community Members.
