Dear friends,
The Association of African Young Economists (AAYE), based in Cameroon, will hold its 2016 general assembly May 5-6 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The assembly, "Boosting Investment and Business Environment in Africa Today: Digital Financial Sector Development as an Optimal Strategy for Financial Inclusion," invites Vi members to submit proposals for papers and workshops.
The overall objective of the event is to bring together various stakeholders including regional and national government representatives, academics, donors and the private sector to discuss knowledge needs and agree on a common work program to address them.
In view of the significance of digital finance at this important juncture of African growth trajectory and quest for inclusive development, the AAYE has launched a call for papers. The association is particularly interested in case studies on specific countries rather than framework papers.
Deadline for submissions is March 25.
AAYE also calls for workshop proposals that fulfil the overall aims of the programme. The purpose of the workshops is to showcase cutting-edge innovation and practice that will unearth new knowledge, and generate fundamental questions and dialogue on the understanding of digital finance in Africa. The organization committee welcomes case studies, debates, research and knowledge-sharing at community and policy levels in Africa.
Workshop proposals must be submitted by February 29.
All submissions may be sent t info@aaye.org, with copy to africanyoungeconomist@gmail.com.
AAYE is able to offer financial support to a very limited number of proposal submissions depending on fund availability.
I hope you find this information useful, and that you will distribute widely among your colleagues and students.
Best regards,
Susana Olivares
