     Indian Museum, an autonomous organisation under Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India invites applications for the following posts:

 

 

01.       Keeper (Archaeology)           -           1 post (Unreserved)

A.        Scale of pay    -           PB-3: ` 15,600 – 39,100/- with Grade pay of ` 6,600/-

B.        Age:    45 years as on 31.03.2013 (relaxation for departmental candidates

as per G.O.I. orders)

C.        Essential qualifications &experience :

(i)         Master's degree of a recognized University of equivalent in Indian History or Sanskrit or Pali orPrakrit or Persian or Arabic or Archaeology.

(ii)        Diploma in Museology and 5 years' experience in a Museum of standing or a comparable institution.
                                                OR
7 years' experience in a Museum of standing or comparable institution.

(iii)       Research experience with evidence of published research work.

(iv)       Field experience and practical training in Archaeology.

02.       Keeper (Anthropology)         -           1 post (Unreserved)

A.        Scale of pay    -           PB-3: ` 15,600 – 39,100/- with Grade pay of  ` 6,600/-

B.        Age:    45 years as on 31.03.2013 (relaxation for departmental candidates

as per G.O.I. orders)

C.        Essential qualifications &experience :

(i)         Master's degree of a recognized University of equivalent in Anthropology.

(ii)        Diploma in Museology and 5 years' experience in a Museum of standing or a comparable institution.

           

 

 

OR

 

            7 years' experience in a Museum of standing or a comparable institution

(iii)       Research experience with evidence of published research work.

(iv)       Field experience and practical training in Anthropology.


03.       Keeper (Fine Arts & Crafts)            -           1 post (Unreserved)

A.        Scale of pay    -           PB-3: ` 15,600 – 39,100/- with Grade pay of  ` 6,600/-

B.        Age:    45 years as on 31.03.2013 (relaxation for departmental candidates

as per G.O.I. orders)

 

C.        Essential qualifications &experience :

(i)         Master's degree of a recognized University or equivalent qualifications in Indian History or Sanskrit or Pali or Prakrit or Persian or Arabic or Archaeology or Art History.

(ii)        Diploma in Museology and 5 years' experience in a Museum of standing or a comparable institution.

                                                            OR

            7 years' experience in a Museum of standing or a comparable institution.

(iii)       Research experience with evidence of published research work on illustrated manuscripts, Indian Miniatures and Crafts.

(vi)       Practical training and field experience in Fine Arts and Crafts.

04.       Senior Conservation Officer            -           1 post (Unreserved)

A.        Scale of pay    -           PB-3: ` 15,600 – 39,100/- with Grade pay of  ` 6,600/-

B.        Age:    45 years as on 31.03.2013 (relaxation for departmental candidates

as per G.O.I. orders)

 

C.        Essential qualifications &experience :

(i)         Master's degree of a recognized University of equivalent in physical or Inorganic Chemistry.

(ii)        Experience of analysis of alloys, silicates and knowledge of insecticides, fumigants and plastics.

 

 

(iii)       About 7 years' experience in application of Chemistry in the examination and analysis preservation of Museum material in a responsible post.

 

(iv)       Research experience with evidence of published research work.

Desirable:

(i)         Diploma in Museology and 5 years' experience in a Museum of standing or a comparable institution.

                                                            OR

(ii)        7 years' experience in a Museum of standing or a comparable institution.

(iii)       Training and experience abroad in a recognised Laboratory.

05.       Publication Officer    -           1 post (Unreserved)

A.        Scale of pay    -           PB-3: ` 15,600 – 39,100/- with Grade pay of  ` 6,600/-

B.        Age:    45 years as on 31.03.2013 (relaxation for departmental candidates

as per G.O.I. orders)

 

C.        Essential qualifications &experience :

(i)         Master's degree of a recognized University of equivalent in English or Indian History or Sanskrit or Pali or Prakrit or Persian or Arabic or Archaeology and/or Indian History, Art and Anthropology.

(ii)        Practical training and experience in Publication work. Including layout, fypography printing process, ordering blocks etc., proof reading.

(iii)       At least 7 years' experience in editing Museum Journal/Art or Archaeology publications.

(iv)       Some scholarly competence and experience with research experience and publications in a field included in Museum collections.

Desirable:

(i)         Knowledge of Hindi and one Foreign language.

(ii)        Diploma in Museology and 5 years' experience in a Museum of standing or a comparable institution.

                                                            OR

            7 years' experience in a Museum of standing or a comparable institution.

 

06.       Deputy Keeper (Pre-History)           -           1 post (Unreserved)

A.        Scale of pay    -           PB-3: ` 15,600 – 39,100/- with Grade pay of  ` 5,400/-

B.        Age:    45 years as on 31.03.2013 (relaxation for departmental candidates

as per G.O.I. orders)

 

C.        Essential qualifications &experience :

(i)         Master's degree of a recognized University of equivalent in Archaeology or in Anthropology (with special knowledge in Pre-History).

(ii)        Diploma in Museology and 3 years' experience in a Museum of standing or a comparable institution.

                                                            OR

            5 years' experience in a Museum or a comparable institution.

(iii)       Research experience with evidence of published research work.

(iv)       Field experience and practical training in Pre-History.

Desirable:

(i)         Degree or Diploma in Pre-History.

Note:   Qualifications relaxable by the Board on the recommendations of the Selection Committee in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

Candidates working in Government/Semi-Government organizations should send their applications through proper channel.Incomplete applications or applications not accompanied with necessary documents shall be summarily rejected.

 

Mere possession of requisite qualifications and experience shall not entitle the candidates to be called for the test and interview.  Decision of Indian Museum in this regard shall be final.  Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise, will be trated as disqualification for the post.  Interim enquiries will not be entertained.
