*Abstract*

Due to the spread of Covid-19, humanity confronts unparalleled uncertainty. What began as a health issue has become a devastating disrupter for trade and commerce, wiping out millions of jobs due to lockdowns announced to contain the virus's spread. The trade-off between saving lives and livelihoods has gotten grimmer over time. As governments strive to balance between lockdowns and unlocking in their different variations, anxiously waiting for an effective vaccine and hammering up fiscal and monetary packages for economic regeneration and recovery, Covid-19 could be a milestone in the recent history of human civilisation. It has changed our consumer patterns, manufacturing speed, merchandise channels, and lifestyles. Isolating China, a vital link in the global supply chain and jump into industry, has slowed globalisation, if not blocked it, and nationalism has strengthened. This avalanche of circumstances demands for an alternate method to manage human affairs, and Gandhi's thinking may provide some insights.

The current situation to Gandhian thinking to find takeaways. Gandhi, a man of the people, grew answers in the ground. Gandhi would often reflect and meditate before speaking. All of his calls for people to form a nation and pursue political independence were evaluated on the values of truth, nonviolence, and noncovetousness. In this lecture, the speaker tries to keep the spirit of people as change-makers without ignoring the government's role as a policymaker and giver of relief during hard times.

*About VICAI*

Virtual Institute of Choices, Actions and Innovations (VICAI) is the digital version of the Centre for Choice, Action and Innovation. We intend to merge these two names in near future. Centre for Choice, Action and Innovation was established in 2021 as a not for profit organization amidst the period of the raging covid-19 pandemic. The basic objective was to create a trust/institute that will provide a platform for the exchange of opinions and ideas among researchers, social scientists, practitioners, scholars and policy-makers. The basic purpose is to identify choices that are available and zero down on the most plausible action. Actions can, later on, be further improved upon through innovation from the field. Research, dissemination, deliberations and training are an integral part of such an endeavour.
