Dear Sir/ madam,

Its my pleasure to announce that School of Business, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is organizing a National Symposium on "Road to Resurgence: Indigenous Learning for Business and Society"on 16th -17th March 2017.

The symposium has a highlight of participation and contribution from the experts and eminent speakers.

We all understand that the global phenomenon has often challenged the concept of ethnocentricity. India and its indigenous knowledge base provides for the alignment of social, spiritual and economic aspects of integrated and sustainable development. The development of the nation and the depended states is dependent upon reviving, adapting and redefining the path of integrated development which leads to the balance of mind, morality and money. The Indian scriptures provide insight towards the synthesis of organizational spirit towards excellence (16 Kala Sampuran). They describe the global perspective for quality based excellence, with focus upon ethics and values to attain sustainable growth and human well-being. As per the Vedic philosophy, the business is an integral part of the society. It has been a source for sustaining and balancing human desire with 'Artha kama' focused upon ''Sarva Loka Hitam'' meaning ''universal wellbeing''.

With dynamics of socio-political as well as economic landscapes, the organizations are focusing upon the aggressive growth, higher profits and yet sustained performances. The pressure of competitiveness had simultaneously resolved in search for new methodologies and systems which can sustain the organizations as well as environment. Over the period Indian systems and knowledge base has created its space in the world economy. When the world is looking for strong basis for redefining the socio-economic and political order, it is the time when the indigenous theories and knowledge based may be searched, reflected, explored, experimented and put to practice. The scholars and the practitioners of world have been experimenting with the concept with certain successful examples. Various organizations, bodies and researchers have been working on values, knowledge base, various kinds of casuistries, scientific relations, ethos and conceptualizations.

The symposium is a step in creating indigenous knowledge base that shall help in redefining the management and business practices. It shall provide platform for the learners in creating a symbiotic relationship which is beneficial for the society and economy as a whole.
