***ACPEL2016 Conference Theme: "Development and Disruption: Continuity and Change"

The Second Asian Conference on Politics, Economics and Law is held in the great historical industrial and cultural Japanese hub of the Kansai region, comprising the Kobe-Osaka metropolis, with nearby Kyoto.

Asia is the world's economic motor, and Japan as the world's third largest economy sits between a rising but unstable China, and a far from fading US. As well as the economies of the big three, the dynamic city states, growing powerhouses such as Indonesia and Malaysia, and the smaller developing economies, make Asia a wonderful sea of opportunities, but also challenges, and a fascinating place to study business and economics, and politics and law.

This year's conference theme invites scholars to look at Asia's area of change, including the opening and development of new markets and economies, and disruption of both in the form of positive new technologies and innovations, as well as more worrying changes and slowdowns amid continued uncertainty in financial markets and economies, as well as political instability. What have been the recent big stories in business and finance in Asia, and what are the big stories around the corner? Is Abenomics faltering or is Japan about to enter into a period of renewed growth? Will China provide more shocks for the world in 2016 as it tries to bring about limited political and economic reforms? Is there a Chinese bubble, and will it explode violently? Where are the places experiencing dynamic growth, and what are the environmental costs? How sustainable are the markets in Asia? What changes might the TPP herald? What of the rise in authoritarian and nationalist governments? What are the areas for positive and bullish excitement, and what and where are the causes for concern?

This international conference invites scholars, practitioners and business-people from around the globe to present the latest in research and practice, and discuss the most recent trends and policy developments as we help discover and chart the changing business landscape in Asia and the wider global context, as well as highlight and situate the continuing and central role of Japan.

We look forward to welcoming you to Kobe!

Streams for submission can be found on the Call for Papers page of the conference website:
