Dear Colleagues,

We, ICEPS conference chair – Dr. Chikako Morimoto (Tokyo University of Technology), local committee chair – Dr. Jianming Shi (Tokyo University of Science), and local secretariat - Dr. Fion Yang (Waseda University), are pleased to announce that the 2019 International Conference on Education, Psychology, and Social Sciences (ICEPS) will take place at Fujimi Building, Kagurazaka Campus, Tokyo University of Science on August 22-24, 2019. Last year at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, the conference received over 350 submissions and slightly over 200 delegates from 31 countries participated. Accordingly, worldwide participants in 2019 are expected to reach 350 persons from over 30 countries. All submissions to the conference will go through an anonymous review processes by at least two independent peers. ICEPS provides not only academic platforms, but also opportunities for international and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Therefore, during the three-day conference, all participants will have plenty of opportunities for exchanging ideas, findings and the latest research results, engaging in many academic and industry events, and meeting peers from different countries. We believe participants can share their viewpoints from different perspectives and be exposed to a cross-domain communicating and learning atmosphere through this interdisciplinary joint conference. Objectives

To develop the faculties of researchers to carry out social science research in a scientific way, to articulate their findings and conclusions in an effective manner in order to suggest field insights and policy recommendations.

Training

How to select and formulate the research problem, review the relevant literature using memory mapping, develop the theoretical and conceptual framework, select the research design, formulate the targeted research questions/testable hypotheses, and write research proposal
How to collect qualitative information through ethnography, case studies, focused group discussions
How to do content analysis and presentation through matrices, flow charts, and social mapping
How to decide on sampling method and sample size for survey, prepare the interview schedule/questionnaires,  design questionnaire and collect data using computer assisted personal interview (CAPI)
How to do data cleaning, sorting and analysis in software package STATA, interpret the results, and present findings in tabular forms and diagrams
How to conduct policy and impact evaluation studies, and do rankings on the basis of social indices
How to write thesis, report and other forms of publications, do referencing and indexing for the publication process
Course Design

Interactive classroom sessions on contemporary social science research topics, and various tools and techniques to conduct scientific research
Hands-on training of every method and their applications on participants' on-going or planned research topics
Day long field work to capture field insights through various taught methods

The Malcolm and Elizabeth Adiseshiah Trust invites nominations for the Malcolm Adiseshiah Award - 2019 and for the recently instituted Elizabeth Adiseshiah Award.

Conditions

The Malcolm Adiseshiah Award is given for Distinguished Contributions to Development Studies.

The Elizabeth Adiseshiah Award (Instituted in 2018) will be presented to a young scholar below the age of 45 as on 1st January of the year of Award for recognized contributions to Development Studies.

The MalColm Adiseshiah Award carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs.2 lakhs. The Awardee is expected to deliver the Malcolm Adiseshiah Memorial Lecture at the presentation ceremony.

Elizabeth Adiseshiah Award will carry a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh. 

The Awardees for both the awards will be chosen by a jury of eminent scholars.

Both awards are open to Indian and foreign scholars ordinarily resident in India.

The School of Management Studies (SOMS) of the National Institute of Technology, Calicut is conducting 3rd National workshop on "APPLIED DATA SCIENCE AND BUSINESS ANALYTICS WITH PYTHON AND R " during  November 21-25, 2018 . 

 

Data Science is an interdisciplinary field about processes and systems to extract knowledge or insights from large volumes of data in various forms, either structured or unstructured. It is a continuation of rapidly evolving data analysis fields such as data mining and predictive analytics, as well as Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD). The objective of this 5 day program is to emphasize broad range of techniques for data science using Python and R

 

The workshop covers all industry-relevant Business Analytics techniques with right mix of theory and hands on sessions. There is good blend of theoretical, hands-on and Do-It-Yourself sessions to make the learning experience less taxing. The duration of the workshop is one week which is ideal for understanding basic & advanced BA techniques and practice all the techniques learned during the course of workshop itself.

 

The workshop is designed for industry & academic professionals and research scholars who are interested to any field of Data Sciences ranging from Operation Research, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, Bioinformatics and Data Mining.

Training Programme on Labour Reforms in India: Perspectives and Challenges @ VVGNLI/MGLI

Greetings from Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute!!!!
We are glad to inform you that the Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute and V.V. Giri National Labour Institute have scheduled a Training Programme on Labour Reforms in India: Perspectives and Challenges from 22nd October 2018 to 24th October, 2018 at Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute, Ahmedabad.
This programme aims at enhancing the understanding of the concerned stakeholders in labour reforms in India. The programme provides an opportunity for the participants to have intensive interface with renowned scholars and practitioners in the area of labour and employment policies.
This training programme has been designed for trade union members, government officials, employers and researchers dealing with labour and employment issues. There is no programme fee. The Institute will reimburse to and fro Second Class sleeper train fare on production of tickets to the participants. We request you to disseminate the information into your circle.
