The Development Meet 2015 aims at preparing a framework of practice to understand various issues involved in processes of development. It makes an attempt to critically look into the 'missing links' between the macro understandings and micro-level experiences of development initiatives.
More specifically, the Conference shall engage into various means in which State, market and people are interlocked with each other in the execution of different development orientated programmes. In fact, the question is, as to whether researchers, activists/practitioners need to prioritize on a grassroots-oriented approach that focuses on particular micro-interventions and policies such as conditional cash transfers, distribution of bed nets or cycles for school-going girls and other such micro-service delivery mechanisms or on an aggregated approach focusing on the role of institutions, macroeconomic policies, growth strategies and other country-level factors. The various initiatives for skills development like that of setting up of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and rural entrepreneurships needs to be deliberated upon.
This meet thus examines diverse approaches/ issues to explore the efficacy and pragmatics involved in alternative discourses in development which have emerged in recent years. Apart from empirical case studies, interpolation of comparable initiatives across the globe shall be appreciated. Most importantly, papers need to be able to interrogate, expound or critique on-going interventions in the development sector across various realms of human life such as education, health, gender, environment etc., to explore problems and prospects. The major themes under which papers are invited may include:
Evaluation of Social Development Projects
