Researcher sought for 1 year position (potentially extendable), working with an inter-disciplinary faculty group from GWU, NYUAD and ATREE on issues relating to rural livelihoods in Karnataka, migration, water and drought.

Work will involve extensive fieldwork, supervision of household surveys, and data cleaning and analysis. Previous experience in conducting fieldwork and empirical research, working with large data sets, familiarity with STATA, and proficiency in Kannada are all preferred. The position is open to both graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. We will make efforts to train candidates in advanced empirical research methods. Co-authorship of research papers is possible.

HISTART '15 / III. History of Art Conference will be held on October 9-10, 2015. The conference will be coordinated by DAKAM (Eastern Mediterranean Academic Research Center), organized by BILSAS (Science, Art, Sport Productions) and hosted by Cezayir Meeting Halls. The conference is aiming at fostering discussions on art and society in modern history.

HISTART '15 Call for Papers: Art and Society
The History of Art Conference aims to trace the path of the dialectic correlation between art and its influence by and upon the society within which it is formed. This correlation is predicated on the explicit relationship between art practice and society from earliest times to the present. During the conference, and within the context of exploring this relationship, well known periods and moments from the history of art will be brought to the agenda and new areas of interest that will be revealed by this perspective will be explored.

KEYNOTES
Prof. Christopher PINNEY
Christopher Pinney is an anthropologist and art historian. He is currently Professor of Anthropology and Visual Culture at University College London. From 2007-09 he was Visiting Crowe Professor in the Department of Art History at Northwestern. His research interests cover the art and visual culture of South Asia, with a particular focus on the history of photography and chromolithography in India. He has also worked on industrial labor and Dalit goddess possession.

PUBLICATION
All submitted papers are subject to double blind peer review. Conference proceedings are going to be available on DVD as e-book and DAKAM's digital library with an ISBN number before the conference and will be sent to be reviewed for inclusion in the "Thomson & Reuters Web of Science's Conference Proceedings Citation Index" (CPCI) and Google Scholars.
Selected papers presented at HISTART'15 are going to be published in "Art-Sanat Journal" and "Turkish Journal of Arts and Social Sciences".
