International Literary Criticism Conference will be held at Nippon Meeting Halls in Istanbul. The conference is coordinated by DAKAM (Eastern Mediterranean Academic Research Center) and will be organized by BILSAS (Science, Art, Sport Productions). Since 2012, a nearly two hundred presentations by scholars from different places of the world have been hosted by DAKAM's LITCRI Conference and four proceedings books have been published. The event will be held together along with LANGUAGE, PHONETICS AND ETYMOLOGY '16 / International Conference in Language Studies, TRANSLATION STUDIES '16 / International Conference on Translation and Interpreting and LANGUAGE LEARNING AND TEACHING '16 / International Conference on Education and Language. Participants will be able to attend any of the sessions of these conferences. * FRAMEWORK DAKAM's LIT CRI '16 will search for new answers by bringing forward new questions of literature and will question if it is possible to create a literary system in a world in which power relations always change. Literature today has a rich, wide and chaotic space in relation with increasing communication utilities, new digital channels, increased creative writing efforts, intensive translation activities, effect of big media, rewards and activities. Bestsellers in one hand, small poet environments on the other hand, blogs in one hand, traditional journals on the other hand; central big publications in one hand, individual freedom of e-books in the other hand; social webs in one hand, traditional author gatherings on the other hand; paper, pen in one hand, digitally consumed texts on the other hand; big rewards in one hand, authors protecting anarchist spirit on the other hand -the production of young generations born into new age, living on scholarships as well as copyright, transformations on the political face of the world, new faces of intellectual trends, experimental works, digital utilities, new subjects and new styles change the literature world everyday and confront us with new questions and definitions. To which directions 21th century literature heads, which characteristics are already obvious and which surprises hide the first indications inside are the questions waiting for answers. Together with this, evaluating literature today with the heritage of 20th century seems as important as re-reading the recent era literature history from today's point of view. Literature today needs to be handled its history and roots dating back eras ago. Mainly philosophy, sociology and politics, nest relationships of all intellectual production areas is the most important subject of literature arguments. LIT CRI sets off for raising questions as well as searching for answers on new dimensions of literature, literature theory and literature criticism in the new millennium. Trying to to reach for dimensions which are currently invisible to other geographies, curious about all innovations in every language, excited about all works comparing literature today, * AGENDA: Abstract submission: AUGUST 12, 2016 Registration: AUGUST 26, 2016 Full papers submission: SEPTEMBER 2, 2016 * KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Professor Mediha GOBENLI teaches since 2000 comparative literature at Yeditepe University. Why are we in teaching and learning if not to be able to help enrich the lives of our students? Educational institutions at all levels, and of all types, should continue to strive for social change in today's world. Beyond the seeming simplicity of our conference theme, however, is great scope for wide-ranging responses to just how we go about educating for change by examining the inherent challenges and responsibilities faced by educators the world over. Education, too frequently, is the victim of politics, and worse, sometimes ideologies. Politicians and bureaucrats devise and implement policies to effect change ranging from curriculum structure and goals to manipulating budgets on behalf of interest groups and their lobbyists. Questions relating to accountability, transparent governance and community relations are too frequently avoided. Within the classroom itself, bridging the gap between policy, theory, and practice, whether traditional or virtual, teachers and professors de facto become, at varying levels, agents for change. Beyond providing students with resources for study in given fields, they also support them by often being seen as acting not merely as mentors, but also as role models. These issues are part of the global transformation affecting all human civilization. How can we as teachers function effectively in a very uncertain environment? How do we help to equip our students with the intellectual and existential tools they require? How do we narrow the gap between theory and practice? How do we make decisions about curriculum and course context in the face of political pressure and social norms? What is the role of interdisciplinary studies in educating for change? And, at the macro level, how can we stimulate awareness of issues such as education assisting the promotion of social justice? This conference, part of IAFOR's global conference series on education in its broadest sense brings together teachers, researchers and distinguished professors from around the world to share their insights. The goal is to broaden awareness of different contexts in the pursuit of synergies and solutions. We look forward to your active participation in this vital field of future-oriented academic activity of The International Academic Forum. In conjunction with our global partners, including the University of Hawaii at Manoa, we look forward to extending a warm welcome to you in 2017. ***IICEHawaii2017 Organizing Committee Professor Curtis Ho – The University of Hawaii at Manoa, USA Professor Sue Jackson – Birkbeck, University of London, UK Dr. Joseph Haldane – The International Academic Forum (IAFOR) Professor Stuart D. Whether we are looking at why we must change, or how education has changed or even how education will change, change affects all of us involved in language education in many ways. Administrators, teacher trainers, teachers, students: we all wear many hats and we all come face-to-face with change, sometimes on a daily basis. Positive change is about improvement: improving proficiency, improving lives, helping learners achieve their goals and dreams and ultimately, broadening horizons. In our work as educators we are often asked to effect change – that we are change-makers can be seen in the new curriculums, new material, and even new techniques or methods that we develop. For those of us who conduct research, our research is often focused on finding "better" or more effective ways of teaching, often measured in outcomes such as 'students entered with an average of X and improved to an average of Y'. In such a case, improvement = change. But change is also an area of research as can be seen by looking at journals such as the Journal of Educational Change, Changes in Higher Education, Culture and Change, and Educational Research for Social Change, to mention four. It is a serious area of study, and one worth our attention. The focus of the last journal mentioned above is worth looking at. Change is not only about test scores or proficiency going up; it is also about lasting change in one's life, life choices, and looking beyond us as individuals, the society we live in. Social change and a focus on improving the societies we live in is another outcome of education. In recent years, there has been a focus on language and identity and there has been an embrace of sociocultural theory and language development. At the same time change for the sake of change is not a good reason for change. There is often a tension between the status quo (which is not always bad) and the desire to change. As invested members of our field, we need to be able to examine change, identifying and applying that which is appropriate and will further our goals while also having the wisdom and gumption to reject change that does not make sense. As Dewey said, "reforms which rest simply upon the enactment of law, or the threatening of certain penalties, or upon changes in mechanical or outward arrangements are transitory and futile." And so we welcome you to this year's conferences, where we can examine change in ways that are important to each of us. What are its challenges, its complexities, and its constraints? It is electrifying to think about the wide-ranging conversations we will have as we consider how we can go about educating for change the world over. In conjunction with our global partners we look forward to extending a warm welcome to you in 2017. ***IICLLDubai2017 Conference Chairs Professor Said M. To learn more about IAFOR - http://iafor.org ***IAFOR's International events on Language Learning On an individual level the ability to speak and operate in another language opens new worlds of possibilities, and allows unmediated access to peoples, cultures, and both literary and academic works. IAFOR conferences are laboratories of intercultural communication, as a typical conference may contain delegates from anywhere between 30 to 60 different countries. This makes our vision of an academic platform at the intersection of culture, nation and discipline a reality, and makes for an extremely diverse and rich conference environment. Language is a powerful tool, and the prominence given to language learning in the IAFOR programme underscores the crucial role language learning and teaching plays in facilitating and building the many necessary bridges in communication between individuals, cultures and societies within the global context. Our events offer the chance for scholars and practitioners to exchange the latest ideas and approaches, attend workshops and interact with some of the biggest names in the field. What's more, IAFOR's language learning conferences are organised in partnership with some of the world's leading universities and language learning associations, including Birkbeck University of London, Virginia Tech, The Hong Kong Institute of Education, National Institute of Education, Singapore, Moscow State University, Waseda University, Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT), National Association of Teachers of English (NATE), Russia, and National Association of Applied Linguistics, Russia. These partnerships attest to the excellence of our programme, but also mean that our conferences are exceptional platforms to disseminate your research. http://iafor.org/language-learning/ |

POLITSCI '16 / 4th International Political Science Conference
POLITSCI '16 / IV. International Political Science Conference Istanbul, Turkey Papers will be published in DAKAM's online library and in the proceedings e-book (with an ISBN number), which will be given to you in a DVD box and will be sent to be reviewed in the "Thomson & Reuters WOS' Conference Proceedings Citation Index-CPCI" Enquiries: conference@dakam.org Web address: http://www.dakamconferences.org/#!politsci/er6b8 * CALL FOR PAPER POLITSCI '16 / IV. International Political Science Conference will be held at Nippon Meeting Halls in Istanbul. The conference is coordinated by DAKAM (Eastern Mediterranean Academic Research Center) and will be organized by BILSAS (Science, Art, Sport Productions). Since 2013, more than one hundred presentations by scholars from different places of the world have been hosted by DAKAM's POLITSCI Conference and three proceedings books have been published. The means of formation of authoritarian power, potentialities of resistance to authoritarianism, social movements, dialectics of force and consent in the creation of power, and the means of ideological legitimization of government policies are among the themes to be tackled within the framework of the event. The conference aims to constitute a forum for prolific exchanges between different theoretical perspectives, interests and concerns prevalent within political science. We welcome papers based on original research in politics. We also encourage submission of abstracts derived from papers in other disciplines, including history, philosophy, and economics, hoping to engage in inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary dialogues that will add to our understanding of what political theory may mean for people today living in rapidly changing national, social and cultural contexts. Our hope is to initiate fruitful discussions aiming at expanding the horizons of political theory through problematizing traditional boundaries, mainstream perspectives and concerns. Presently the world is witnessing a series of radical transformations in the political sphere; the debate about the great transformation of the 2010s is focusing on the process of authoritarianization on the one hand, and on social and political resistance movements on the other. A manifold of political and social scientists tend to situate power and resistance in the contemporary world within a broader process, and tend to analyze them as components of political and social dynamics related to late capitalism, or, of neo-liberalization. The current forms of political power (including "illiberal democracy" and other less conventional forms of authoritarian regimes) can be also linked to the destruction of the public sphere in the real sense of the word, and to the creation of an imagined/fabricated "public sphere". This process implies the use of means such as the rewriting of history, and distortion of reality, within a seemingly democratic and participatory framework and renders analyses related to forms of power and resistance and the importance of creating genuine public spaces crucial. We believe the gathering of scholars who work on the complex web of relationships between political institutions, society, and the individual with a focus on the dialectics between consent and coercion in politics and who seek to transcend perspectives that tend to confine the question of authoritarianism to a schematic struggle between State and civil society will be most fruitful. * THEMES I. Asia is the world's economic motor, and Japan as the world's third largest economy sits between a rising but unstable China, and a far from fading US. As well as the economies of the big three, the dynamic city states, growing powerhouses such as Indonesia and Malaysia, and the smaller developing economies, make Asia a wonderful sea of opportunities, but also challenges, and a fascinating place to study business and economics, and politics and law. This year's conference theme invites scholars to look at Asia's area of change, including the opening and development of new markets and economies, and disruption of both in the form of positive new technologies and innovations, as well as more worrying changes and slowdowns amid continued uncertainty in financial markets and economies, as well as political instability. What have been the recent big stories in business and finance in Asia, and what are the big stories around the corner? Is Abenomics faltering or is Japan about to enter into a period of renewed growth? Will China provide more shocks for the world in 2016 as it tries to bring about limited political and economic reforms? Is there a Chinese bubble, and will it explode violently? Where are the places experiencing dynamic growth, and what are the environmental costs? How sustainable are the markets in Asia? What changes might the TPP herald? What of the rise in authoritarian and nationalist governments? What are the areas for positive and bullish excitement, and what and where are the causes for concern? This international conference invites scholars, practitioners and business-people from around the globe to present the latest in research and practice, and discuss the most recent trends and policy developments as we help discover and chart the changing business landscape in Asia and the wider global context, as well as highlight and situate the continuing and central role of Japan. We look forward to welcoming you to Kobe! Register for this event: http://iafor.org/aceid2017-registration/ ***About the Conference Whether we are looking at why we must change, or how education has changed or even how education will change, change affects all of us involved in language education in many ways. ***Conference Theme: "Educating for Change" The conference theme for ACEID2017 is "Educating for Change", and the organisers encourage submissions that approach this theme from a variety of perspectives. However, the submission of other topics for consideration is welcome and we also encourage sessions across a variety of interdisciplinary and theoretical perspectives. Submissions are organised into the following thematic streams: Education: social justice and social change Education: social and political movements Education and post-colonialism Education for sustainable development Conflicting perspectives in learning and teaching Digital technologies and communications Educational change through technologies? 'Englishes' in global communication Bi-cultural, bi-lingual and bi-national education Languages education and applied linguistics (ESL/TESL/TEFL) Linguistics and Pedagogy Multilingual societies Education for interdisciplinary thinking Education for intercultural communication Education for international exchange Challenges of new technologies Primary and secondary education Higher education Adult and lifelong learning Technology enhanced and distance learning International schools and educational goals Educational policy, leadership, management and administration Curriculum research and development Economic management of education Institutional accreditation and ranking Organizational learning and change Professional concerns, training and development Special education, learning difficulties, disability Student learning, learner experiences and learner diversity Submit your abstract: http://iafor.org/cfp ***IAFOR's events on Education IAFOR's education conferences are held across three continents, attracting more than 2,000 delegates a year from more than 100 countries. SSRM @ MGLI
Social Science Research Methods
(SSRM)
Organised by
Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute, Ahmedabad
27th September 2016 to 1st October 2016
Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute (MGLI) announces a programme from 27th September 2016 to 1st October 2016 with the purpose of imparting knowledge on Research Methodology to the researchers across the various fields of Social Sciences.
The need for such programme arises for usage of mixed (qualitative and quantitative) methods in research. Research is defined as a systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions. In Research Methodology "Methodology" indicates more than simply the methods which are used to collect data. It is necessary to consider the concepts and theories which lie beneath the methods. e.g in the context of social science to highlight a specific feature of a social, economic or political theory it is required to recognise the underlying concepts of the methodology.
In case of methods it is necessary to ensure that the research questions and/or hypotheses are addressed with clarity. The methods should be described in an elaborate manner for the study to be replicated. At every stage explanations and justification with logical reasons for the choice of particular methods and materials is to be provided. There are several ways to approach the research that fulfils the requirements of a dissertation. These differ both inter and intra disciplines.
The innovativeness of this programme is its endeavour to deliver both theoretical and practical aspects of research through a direct interaction in the field. The major objectives of the programme are:
1. Providing conceptual and theoretical clarity on research.
2. Review of literature and hypothesis formulation
3. Sampling Design and Techniques
4. Questionnaire/ Schedule formulation
5. Collection of Data through Fieldwork
6. Data entry coding and analysis (PSPP)
7. Preparation of the Report
8. Preparation of Research Proposal
