NATIONAL SEMINAR ON 'GENDER AND DEMOCRACY IN NORTHEAST INDIA'

Department of Political Science, Gauhati University under UGC-SAP programme
Venue: Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam, India
Date: 4-5 March, 2014
Interdisciplinary in nature, the seminar will primarily focus on Northeast India. However, it intends to draw experiences from other regions in the country too. Abstracts and full papers are invited on the following themes:
Themes:
Gender and Democracy: Emerging Issues and Theoretical Formulations; Gender Violence: Domestic Violence, Trafficking, Superstition and Witch-Hunting, Sexual Harassment; Gender Gap: Gender and Land Rights, Sex Ratio; Gender and Media; Gender and Governance: Legal framework, Gender Policies, Gender Budgeting, Women in Panchayati
Raj; Gender issues in Tribal Societies; Gender Education and Gender Studies; Role of NGOs; Gender Construction in Literature & Culture. Papers on related themes may also be considered.
Important Dates:
Last date of submission of abstracts (word limit 400) : 1st February, 2014
Confi rmation of acceptance of abstracts : 10th February, 2014
Last date of submission of full paper (word limit 5000) : 22nd February, 2014
The abstract and full paper must be sent in electronic format (MS word) through e-mail attachment in the following address: gupolsc@gmail.com and cc to jayanta1947@gmail.com and dhruba75@rediffmail.com
Travel and Accommodation: The organisers will pay the travel expanses to the invited guests. Other participants with full paper may also be considered for payment up to Railway AC-III fare or equivalent. Food and accommodation will be taken care of by the organisers during the days of Seminar.
