Call For Papers

The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) remarkably adopted in September 2015 cannot just be regarded as a mere "extension" of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) adopted 15 years earlier ; their scope is much broader, and the change they advocate is significantly more profound.

By 2030, world governments have committed themselves to build frameworks that may simultaneously promote equitable economic development, social inclusion, as well as environmental sustainability.
Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere;

Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture;

Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages;

Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all;

Goal 5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls;

Goal 6. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all;

Goal 7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all;

Goal 8. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all;

Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation;

Goal 10.Reduce inequality within and among countries;

Goal 11.Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable;

Goal 12.Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns;

Goal 13.Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts;

Goal 14.Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development;

Goal 15.Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss;

Goal 16.Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels;

Goal 17.Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

The SDGs comprehensively address the most pressing multidimensional, interdependent challenges of modern times, whilst creating an amazing opportunity for shared, sustainable solutions.

The streams of the conference is constructed to demonstrate the "5P-keywords" of the Sustainable Development Goals' agenda;
Governance for sustainable economic development (Prosperity);
Promotion of social inclusion (People);
Environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources (Planet);
Socio-economic foundation of peace and stability (Peace);
Participative models for holistic development (Partnership).

GENDER AND WOMEN'S STUDIES '16 / Interdisciplinary Conference on Gender and Women's Studies in Social Sciences and Art will be held at Nippon Meeting Halls in Istanbul. The conference is coordinated by DAKAM (Eastern Mediterranean Academic Research Center) and will be organized by BILSAS (Science, Art, Sport Productions).

The event will be held together along with UNDERSTANDING BEAUTY AND UGLINESS '16 / Interdisciplinary Conference on Art Theory and Philosophy and EXPERIENCE AND EXPRESSION OF LOVE '16/ Interdisciplinary Conference in Literature, Arts, History and Psychology. Participants will be able to attend any of the sessions of these conferences.

FRAMEWORK

The field of gender and women's studies emerged from the contemporary feminist movement with the initial goal of bringing women and their experiences more fully into knowledge.

How do gender, race, class, sexuality and age contribute to the formation of social identities? What role do ensuing power differences between these factors play in our globalized and mediatized world? What measures have been taken, in the past and the present, in order to prevent discrimination and exclusion? And how do academic, cultural, artistic, journalistic, and policy-making institutions respond to these societal challenges?

Emancipation, the recognition of differences, and awareness of intersections of gender with other factors of identity making (class, race, age, sexuality, etc.) are crucial tools in analyzing social and cultural relations in today's postcolonial and post-secular societies.

The conference explores the ways that femininity and masculinity affect an individual's thought process. This is relevant in a variety of realms, such as social organizations and institutions, interpersonal relationships, and understandings of identity and sexuality.

Power will also explore as it relates to gender and other forms of identity, including sexuality, race, class, religion, and nationality as encompasses interdisciplinary fields, which include exploration of the histories and experiences of diverse women and men as well as studies of sexualities, masculinities, femininities, and gender systems in society. The conference will also welcome studies that analyzes how gender plays out in politics, intimate life, culture, the workplace, athletics, technology, health, science, and in the very production of knowledge itself.

The relationship between gender and society historically and cross-culturally, and the changes now occurring in the roles of women and men, the participation of women in the major institutions of society, and women themselves are among the topics to be included. Historical, contemporary, and transnational analyses of how gender and sexual formations arise in different contexts such as colonialism, nationalism, and globalization can be mentioned as important points of discussion.

CUI '16 / 4th International Contemporary Urban Issues Conference

CUI '16 / IV. International Contemporary Urban Issues Conference on INFORMALITY

Istanbul, Turkey

Papers will be published in DAKAM's online library and in the proceedings e-book (with an ISBN number), which will be given to you in a DVD box and will be sent to be reviewed in the "Thomson & Reuters WOS' Conference Proceedings Citation Index-CPCI"

Enquiries: conference@dakam.org
Web address: http://www.dakamconferences.org/#!cui/kl6zl

CUI '16 / IV. International Contemporary Urban Issues Conference will be held at Nippon Meeting Halls in Istanbul. The conference is coordinated by DAKAM (Eastern Mediterranean Academic Research Center) and will be organized by BILSAS (Science, Art, Sport Productions).
Since 2013, more than two hundred presentations by scholars from different places of the world has been hosted by CUI Conferences and three proceedings books have been published.

he conference aims at fostering discussions of theory and research on urban issues. Focusing on a multidimensional urban phenomenon, this international conference aims to deepen the understanding of informality by opening it to discussion with contributions from various disciplines like architecture, urban planning, sociology, history, economy and anthropology.

Emergence of informality as a concept in scholarly discussions can be traced back to the 1970s when "the informal sector" was first used by ILO reports on employment and poverty. The results of the global economic restructuring -such as the flexibilization of production and employment relations, deterioration of collective responsibility and welfare functions of the state- damage the security of urban poor in terms of housing and working. Meanwhile, recent socio economic public policies seem to intensify the condition of informality. Now, it is widely accepted that informal way of living is a necessity for the urban poor as a survival strategy. Hence, informal work and housing constitute a significant proportion of urban economies and policies.

What is new in the neo-liberal age is the extending scope of informality. Today, the boundary between the formal and informal is blurred more than before since most urbanites, including the middle classes, experience both formal and informal encounters in their everyday life. Besides, even the urban rich contribute to informality by the development projects on the invaded peripheral land. Consequently, contemporary informality affects not just a marginal segment of the society but a majority of people living in urban space.

IAFOR promotes and facilitates new multifaceted approaches to one of the core issues of our time, namely globalisation and its many forms of growth and expansion, and its subsequent impact on societies, institutions and individuals.

The Asian Conference on Society, Education and Technology 2016 invites educators and policy makers from around the world to look at the latest trends and issues in technology policy and practice and its role in the private and public sphere. ACSET is a conference about change and transformation, and the conference theme of "Education and Social Justice: Educating for Equality within and across Borders" looks at how technology can transform and change systems and whole societies, whilst it is itself in a state of continuous transformation and change. Harnessed in the right way, it can empower individuals to achieve great things, and make the world a better place, but also raises many worrying ethical questions, including those concerning privacy and surveillance.

-Technology and Society: Technologies, Societies and Communities

-Technology and Society: ICT and Security: Questions of Privacy, Governance and Trust
-Technology and Society: Green Computing: ICT, Sustainability, Energy and the Environment

We hope and expect the 2016 conference themes to inspire a number of research avenues, and look forward to discussing ideas, findings and synergies, in this International Academic Forum.
