New academic opportunities from the UNCTAD Virtual Institute network

Dear Vi friends,

I'm pleased to forward the following offers on behalf of our members and extended network of partners. I hope you find them of interest.

Vi core Colombian member, Universidad EAFIT, invites contributions for the July-December 2014 issue of AD-minister. The journal seeks to disseminate research on local and international developments in business administration, international business, accounting, marketing and organizational psychology.

Manuscripts for publication must be submitted in accordance with the Author Guidelines. Author registration is required prior to submissions.

For more information, contact ad-minister@eafit.edu.co.

The Vi's most recent core university member, the College of Europe, encourages Vi researchers interested in European studies to apply as visiting scholars. Visiting scholars are typically professors who would like to spend their sabbatical leave at the College of Europe or senior researchers who wish to come to the College of Europe for a period of time with the objective of conducting research for a (post)-doctoral project. The stay at the College can be from one month up to an entire academic year.

The application letter in either English or French should be addressed to the Rector of the College of Europe, who will submit it to the Academic Council for consideration. The application should specify
the motivation, research interest and preferred time of stay and be accompanied by a detailed CV. Each visiting scholar should preferably obtain an affiliation with one of the study programmes at the Bruges Campus, Belgium, or at the Natolin (Warsaw) Campus, Poland.

Scholars are responsible for their own travel and subsistence costs; applications are accepted throughout the year. For more information, contact nadir.preziosi@coleurope.eu.

UNCTAD invites Vi members to contribute to a Multidisciplinary Academic Conference organized in the context of the World Investment Forum. Its objective is to facilitate collective, multidisciplinary brainstorming aimed at developing a shared vision and shaping the future research agenda for investment in sustainable development.

The conference, scheduled for October 15 will be hosted by Vi affiliate member, the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies of Geneva.

Interested participants should submit a one-page summary of their current research programme/project or of a relevant research paper, and their ideas on a forward-looking agenda for research. Summaries should be sent to Noelia.Garcia.Nebra@unctad.org by August 9.

The Global Development Network (GDN) is inviting applications from multi-disciplinary research teams to undertake a systematic study of the research environment in developing countries.Six to seven projects will be awarded grants of up to USD 43,000.

Proposals must be submitted in English or French by July 30. For more information, contact dr-cfp@gdn.int.

GDN is also accepting entries for its Next Horizons Essay Contest 2014. The primary objective of the contest is to invite fresh thinking related to the future of aid that can inform the ongoing discourse on development assistance and to make this thinking available to policymakers and key stakeholders.

The contest welcomes submissions of maximum 5,000 words, in English, French or Spanish. Up to 20 winning entries will receive USD 20,000 each.
